About The Honda S2000

1999 was the first year that the Honda S2000 went into production, a small 2-seater roadster.

It boasts a lightweight frame and a high-compression engine that lends to its high performance.

Unlike many sports cars, the S2000 is affordable thanks to the company’s mass production efforts, bringing this type of enjoyment into the hands of the normal citizen.

Several other Japanese manufacturers also offered their own low-cost 2-seater sports car at the time including the Mazda MX-5 and the Toyota MR2.

Honda has kept the features down to the most necessary and included a limited-slip-differential and double-wishbone suspension in the car.

This allows it to put the power down effectively and ensure a comfortable ride quality along with sporty performance.

With the engine in the front of the car, the S2000 gives loads of traction to the front wheels to aid steering while the power from the engine goes purely to the rear wheels only.

Initially, the car was powered by a 2000cc engine, which is where the car gets its name from.

In 2004 a second-generation model came into production and that engine size grew to 2.2-liters and slightly larger alloy wheels were added to the car.

This 2.2-liter engine evolved from the ones that had been used in the Accord and Prelude in the past but with minor adjustments.

It always featured a 6-speed manual transmission with no option for an automatic in any market.

Production of the Honda S2000 finished in 2009 although sales continued for 2 more years after due to a reserve that built up.

No replacement was intended from Honda for the car due to the rapidly declining sales that the S2000 experienced in its final years.
