About The Honda Ridgeline
The Honda Ridgeline is the only pickup truck produced by the Japanese company.
It is assembled in North America and Canada with most of the sales taking part in those territories.
Honda created it by taking the Acura MDX mid-size crossover SUV and adding a bed onto the rear to create a sort of crossover pickup truck.
The MDX was created using the Accord platform so the Ridgeline can trace its root back to that sedan car.
In reality, only 7% of the parts fitted into the Ridgeline were shared with other models produced by the company.
The first examples of the truck were sold in 2005 for the 2006 model year after 5 years of research to get the line ready for sale.
This first-generation model ran until 2015 when production was halted while the new version was being finished.
In 2017 the second-generation Honda Ridgeline rolled into showrooms and now the truck was built on a new platform.
This platform was designed specifically for crossover vehicles like this one, it shared it with the Pilot mid-size crossover SUV to name one of the vehicles.
Many improvements were put into place with this new version including a scratch-resistant and in-bed trunk.
Honda boasts that this new version of the crossover pickup truck is much stronger than the last and safety improvements saw it earn the Top Safety Pick-Plus award from IIHS.
